The purpose of my project is to provide my students present day news that will enhance their joy for reading. It stimulate students interest in reading and helps achieve mastery in Language Arts and beyond. It will be used to review various skills and standards. Questions are created by the teacher and Scholastic Reader's platform so they meet our standards. This grant is needed because the magazine high interest lessons will help students to master the content lessons. It is so engaging, the students don't realize they are learning and working.
Students will engage in independent reading, whole group, participate in past/present discussions, and complete projects that connect their reading to both their academic studies and personal interests. They will have access to a wide range of news print magazines by adding the genre that ties into the curriculum and by adding the popular present day titles . This magazines will meet the needs of the students by providing current news articles and help the students develop a since of ownership in school activities.
It will provide the students an opportunity to engage in collaborative learning, improve and help with academic learning, provide a variety of topics, and encourage constructive and positive interaction.
Scholastic Magazines are provided monthly and include up to date world news that stimulate students interest and real world learning. The cost for the year is $250.00.
