Additional Details

The goal of my Play with Purpose project is to establish a weekly themed structured-play environment where my Pre-K students with special needs can develop social-emotional, communication, sensory, cognitive, and motor skills through purposeful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate play experiences.
1. Provide structured themed play opportunities for students at least three times per week. 2. Establish multiple themed play centers (camping, farm, grocery store, vet, zoo, etc.) that address different developmental areas, including social-emotional development, communication, sensory regulation, fine-motor skills, problem-solving, creativity, and pretend play. 3. Incorporate visual supports such as picture schedules, choice boards, First/Then boards, visual timers, and step-by-step activity cards. 4. Provide sensory and adaptive materials that allow students with different abilities and sensory needs to participate successfully. 5. Increase opportunities for peer interaction through cooperative and teacher-guided play activities. 6. Support students in developing greater independence by teaching them how to choose activities, use materials appropriately, follow simple routines, and clean up when finished.
Play with Purpose will provide my students with meaningful opportunities to develop essential social-emotional, communication, sensory, cognitive, and motor skills through structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate play experiences. My students will have opportunities to practice skills such as communication, turn-taking, cooperation, emotional regulation, problem-solving, attention, fine- and gross-motor coordination, and independence. Benefits will also promote student engagement and motivation by allowing my students to learn through hands-on experiences that reflect their individual interests, developmental levels, and sensory needs. Play activities can be adapted to support individual student goals and provide repeated opportunities to practice and generalize skills in a natural and enjoyable setting. Ultimately, Play with Purpose will help create an inclusive learning environment in which my students can build confidence, develop meaningful relationships, increase independence, and experience success while learning through play.
The purpose of this funding is to establish a structured and inclusive play environment where my students can develop essential social-emotional, communication, sensory, cognitive, and motor skills through purposeful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate play experiences. The Play with Purpose project will transform play from an unstructured activity into an intentional learning opportunity with weekly themed play areas. Materials will be organized into themed accessible play areas and activities will be intentionally selected and adapted to address individual student needs and developmental goals
