Additional Details

My 5th grade students need access to engaging, hands-on math materials that allow them to practice and apply grade-level mathematical skills in meaningful ways. Many students benefit from using manipulatives, math games, task cards, visual models, and interactive activities to develop a deeper understanding of challenging math concepts. The purpose of my project is to provide my students with high-quality math materials that will make learning more interactive and accessible while giving every student opportunities to practice, problem-solve, collaborate, and build confidence in mathematics.
Students will use the math materials throughout the school year during whole-group instruction, small-group lessons, math centers, intervention, enrichment, and independent practice. Materials may include math manipulatives, place-value tools, task cards, math games, dry-erase materials, and other hands-on resources. Students will work individually, with partners, and in small groups to complete activities connected to the 5th grade math curriculum. These activities will allow students to physically model mathematical concepts before applying those concepts to written problems. Students will participate in math games, problem-solving challenges, stations, and collaborative activities that encourage mathematical discussion and reasoning.
This project will support 5th grade students in mastering grade-level math standards, including place value, operations with whole numbers and decimals, fractions, measurement, geometry, and multi-step problem solving. Students will use hands-on materials and engaging activities to strengthen their mathematical reasoning, computation, and problem-solving skills. By providing multiple opportunities to model, practice, and apply new concepts, students will develop a stronger conceptual understanding of mathematics and become more confident and independent problem solvers.
This project will provide my students with additional resources to support different learning styles, academic needs, and levels of mathematical understanding. Hands-on materials will help students visualize abstract concepts and provide additional opportunities for students who need repeated practice or alternative ways to demonstrate their understanding.
