The goal of the Design to Product project is to provide students with meaningful opportunities to apply computer application skills in a real-world context while exploring technology-based career pathways. Students will learn how professionals use digital tools to design products, communicate ideas, and create marketing materials in careers such as graphic design, digital marketing, business technology, and product development. Through hands-on projects, students will develop technology proficiency, creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills while creating customized school spirit apparel and promotional materials. This project will help students connect classroom learning to future educational and career opportunities by demonstrating how computer application skills are used in today's workforce.
Students will use computer applications and digital design software to create original school spirit logos, graphics, and promotional materials. They will learn the fundamentals of graphic design, branding, visual communication, and digital content creation while developing products for an authentic school audience. Using Cricut technology and a heat press, students will transform their digital designs into finished products, allowing them to experience the complete design process from concept development to final production. Throughout the project, students will also explore careers related to technology, design, and business while strengthening collaboration, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
This project will provide students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences that strengthen computer application and digital design skills. Students will gain exposure to career pathways in graphic design, digital marketing, business technology, and related fields while developing important workplace readiness skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. By creating products that serve a real purpose within the school community, students will gain confidence in their abilities as designers, creators, and problem-solvers. The project will also increase student engagement by connecting technology instruction to authentic, real-world applications.
Funding for this project will provide the materials necessary for students to participate in hands-on digital design and production experiences throughout the school year. Grant funds will be used to purchase a heat press, heat transfer vinyl, blank apparel items, Cricut accessories, and other production supplies needed to transform student-created digital designs into finished products. These materials will support career exploration, technology integration, and project-based learning activities that allow students to apply computer application skills in meaningful and authentic ways while preparing them for future academic and career success.
