Our goal is to provide LEGO building materials for our school-wide Leader in Me student clubs, giving our kindergarten and first-grade students an engaging, hands-on way to develop leadership skills while creating and building together.
Through LEGO challenges and collaborative building activities, students will practice important Leader in Me habits such as being proactive, beginning with the end in mind, putting first things first, thinking win-win, seeking to understand others, synergizing, and sharpening the saw. Students will have opportunities to share ideas, listen to their peers, solve problems, make decisions, and work together toward a common goal.
The LEGOs will encourage creativity, critical thinking, communication, perseverance, and teamwork while helping our youngest students see themselves as capable leaders. We want our kindergarteners and first graders to learn that leadership isn't just about being in charge—it is about making good choices, helping others, working together, and believing in what they can accomplish.
With these LEGOs, we hope to create meaningful club experiences where our youngest leaders can build, create, collaborate, and grow—one brick at a time!
During our School-Wide Leader in Me Student Clubs, kindergarten and first-grade students will participate in hands-on LEGO building challenges designed to develop leadership, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Students will work individually, with partners, and in small groups to complete a variety of building challenges. They will be encouraged to share ideas, listen to their teammates, make decisions, solve problems, and persevere when their designs do not work the first time. Students will also have opportunities to explain their creations and reflect on what they learned.
These LEGO activities will provide our kindergarten and first-grade students with hands-on opportunities to develop important academic, social, and leadership skills in a fun and engaging way. Building with LEGO encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, and persevere when faced with challenges.
Working together will help students strengthen their communication, cooperation, and teamwork skills. Students will practice listening to others, sharing ideas, taking turns, making decisions, and working toward a common goal. These experiences directly support the principles of Leader in Me and help students understand what it means to be a leader.
LEGO challenges will also encourage students to use their imagination and see that there can be multiple ways to solve a problem. Most importantly, students will have opportunities to build confidence, develop independence, and recognize their own ability to contribute to a team.
By providing these materials, we can create meaningful and memorable learning experiences that help our youngest students build leadership skills, strengthen relationships, and become confident problem-solvers—one brick at a time!
