My goal is to ensure that when students are rewarded for positive behavior that there are plenty of books for them to choose from in our school's book vending machine.
Students earn vending tokens for showing positive behaviors and reaching individualized reading goals. After earning a token, the student can go to the vending machine and select a book. I am requesting a variety of books for all ages to ensure that there is always something in the machine to appeal to any one of our students.
Reading should be fun, not a chore or an assignment. Students work hard to earn the tokens and are so excited to ''buy'' a book from the machine. It has been a huge motivator!
Many of our students come from homes where English is a second language. Books printed in English can be scarce. This program helps us to help our students build a home library with books that they can read and share with their family.
This money will allow me to replenish stock the machine with approximately 60 new books.
