The goal of this project is to strengthen K–5 students’ mathematical understanding and achievement by providing targeted, hands-on intervention resources that address individual learning needs and close foundational skill gaps. These resources will support small-group and differentiated instruction by giving students opportunities to build conceptual understanding, practice essential skills, and develop confidence as mathematicians. By equipping teachers and intervention groups with engaging, standards-aligned materials, this project will help ensure that all students have access to meaningful practice and the support needed to make measurable growth in mathematics.
Students in grades K–5 will participate in targeted math intervention based on individual learning needs and assessment data. During small-group instruction, students will use hands-on manipulatives, math games, visual models, and other intervention resources to strengthen foundational skills, address misconceptions, and build conceptual understanding. Instruction will focus on specific skill gaps identified through classroom assessments, progress monitoring, and FAST data. Students will receive repeated opportunities to practice, explain their mathematical thinking, and apply strategies in engaging ways. Progress will be monitored regularly so instruction and intervention groups can be adjusted based on student growth and needs.
This project will provide students with targeted support to strengthen foundational math skills, address learning gaps, and increase overall math achievement. Hands-on and engaging intervention resources will allow students to move beyond worksheets and develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts through models, manipulatives, games, and meaningful practice. Small-group instruction will provide opportunities for immediate feedback, differentiated support, mathematical discussion, and increased student engagement. These resources will also help build students’ confidence, fluency, problem-solving skills, and independence. By identifying misconceptions early and providing targeted intervention, students will be better prepared to access grade-level content and demonstrate measurable growth on classroom and statewide assessments.
Grant funding will be used to purchase a K–5 math intervention resource designed to provide targeted, skill-based support for students performing below grade-level expectations or demonstrating gaps in mathematical understanding. The resource will include structured intervention activities, hands-on materials, visual models, and differentiated practice that can be used during small-group and individualized instruction. Purchasing this resource will provide resource teachers and the math instructional coach with a consistent, research-based tool for identifying and addressing specific skill deficits. The resource will support targeted instruction, progress monitoring, and purposeful practice while helping students strengthen foundational skills, build confidence, and make measurable progress toward grade-level mathematics expectations.
