The Goal the LEGO Literacy Lab is to increase student engagement and strengthen reading comprehension through hands-on, interactive literacy instruction using LEGO kits. Students will use LEGO materials to build, model, and demonstrtate their understanding of story elements, text structure, sequencing, character development, setting plot and key details. These activities will provide students with creative and concrete ways to visualize and explain their thinking while developing mastery of Florida B.E.S.T. standards. The project will suport diverse learners by transforming abstract reading concepts into meaningful, collaborative, and engaging learning experiences.
Students will participate in hands-on literacy lessons using LEGO kits to demonstrate and deepene their understanding of reading concepts. After reading literary and informational texts, students will use LEGO pieces to build visual representations of story elements such as character, setting, plot, problem and solution, and important events. Students will also create models to demonstrate sequencing, text strucuture and key details. They will use their models to explain their thinking through role-play, retelling, summarizing, and collaborate with peers. These activities will reinforce Florida B.E.S.T. standards; providing fun and engaging activities to demonstrate reading comprehension.
This grant will help increase student engagement and motivation in reading lessons. It will provide a hands-on, multi-sensory approach to literacy instruction. This grant will help students visualize abstract concepts such as character, setting, plot, sequencing, and text structure which will strengthen reading comprehension. Out schools has a wide range of diverse learners and this grant would support these learners by providing multiple ways to demonstrate understanding.

The purpose of these kits will be to allow students to engage in hands-on literacy instruction. These activities will provide students with a creative and engaging way to demonstrate their understanding of reading concepts. It will allow the teacher creative and engaging ways to teach and reinforce reading concepts.

The purpose of these mini figurine sets will be to support hands-on instruction in character analysis. Students will use minifigurines to represent characters from literary texts and explore character traits, feelings, motivations, actions and relationships.
