The goal is to motivate students to work diligently through learning all of their sight words for 1st grade!
Students will have an opportunity to earn rewards as they complete levels of Sight Word Ninja. Each level is color coded like martial arts belts and becomes increasing difficult as they move up colors.
Not only will students be motivated during class time to increase their sight word levels but it will also encourage them to practice at home and to get parents and families involved.
Funding will be used to supply nominal rewards for each level of sight words. There are 9 different levels that students can achieve. Examples of rewards include range from water bottle stickers and bookmarks for beginning levels to supplies used to make certificates for lunch in the classroom with friends and students being able to choose an interesting chapter book for them to keep at home.
