Have you ever heard a beginner start an instrument? Have you heard a professional? What does it take to get from those first squeaks and honks to a refined and beautiful sound that qualifies as music? Lots of practice, patience, and quality instrument supplies and equipment! Practicing on a chipped or moldy clarinet reed, or an instrument with sluggish valves, is not exactly motivational. The difference between persevering through those beginning struggles and giving up often lies in the quality of the instrument and basic supplies to produce a great sound. Providing quality reeds, mouthpieces, and maintenance materials gives our students a greatly increased chance of realizing their potential.
Students will have access to all the supplies to ensure that they are using fresh quality reeds, quality mouthpieces, and materials to maintain their instruments. They will gain the benefit of performing at a higher level without the restrictions of slow moving mechanics, worn out reeds, and low quality mouthpieces. Every student and audience member will appreciate the increased quality of sound!
The fundamental sounds produced by a musician contribute to the performance experienced by both the individual student, the entire band, and the audience. When this sound suffers due to lack of quality reeds, mouthpieces, and instruments, it is highly discouraging. Students using quality reeds that are rotated regularly will sound better, find more success on their instrument, and enjoy playing their instrument. If a child were learning to ride a bicycle with a flat tire, we would inflate it so they could achieve success. Our students in band depend on reeds, mouthpieces, and maintenance supplies to achieve a superior musical sound.
Each of the items purchased are for use on a musical instrument. The reeds are used to produce sound on clarinets, alto saxes, tenor saxes, Bari saxes, bassoons, and oboes. The ligatures are an inexpensive way to improve sound for woodwinds without replacing the entire mouthpiece. The brass mouthpieces will replace current mouthpieces that are tarnished, cracked, and unusable. Cork grease, valve oil, and slide lubricant are all used to allow the parts of the instrument to glide and move easily and effectively.
