The goal of this project is to ensure that students have the basic supplies they need to be successful in school. Over the past several years, we have seen an increasing number of students arrive without notebooks and other essential materials. As a result, staff members often purchase supplies with personal or departmental funds so students can fully participate in learning. This project will allow us to provide notebooks to students who need them, removing a barrier to learning and helping students come to class prepared, organized, and ready to succeed.
Students who come to school without a notebook will be provided one so they can fully participate in classroom learning. Throughout the year, supplies will be distributed as needed to ensure students have the tools necessary to take notes, complete assignments, and stay organized. Having access to these basic materials allows students to focus on learning rather than worrying about whether they have the supplies required for class.
In ELA, notebooks are not just school supplies. They are where learning happens. Students use them every day to take notes, respond to reading, practice writing, record new learning, and reflect on their growth. They are where students experience both successes and struggles as they work toward mastery. Ensuring that every student has a notebook gives them access to an essential tool for learning and removes a barrier that can impact their ability to participate fully in class.
Funding will be used to purchase notebooks for students who come to school without the supplies needed for learning. This school year, approximately 70 students arrived without a notebook, requiring teachers and departments to use personal and school funds to meet this need. Notebooks are an essential part of learning in ELA, where students take notes, respond to reading, practice writing, document new learning, and track their growth throughout the year. Grant funding will help establish a supply of notebooks that can be distributed to students as needed, ensuring all students have access to this vital learning tool and are prepared to fully participate in classroom instruction.
