The goal of this project is to provide my special needs students with a privacy shield to create a focused learning environment that supports assessments and independent work centers. These privacy shields will help my students maintain concentration and reduce distractions during essential academic tasks.
My students will use their privacy shields during the school day during independent learning activities. The shields will provide each student with a private workspace that helps minimize distractions and helps them focus on their task. They will also be able to practice test-taking strategies that prepare them for district and state assessments.
By introducing physical boundaries during critical academic tasks, this learning aid will minimize visual and auditory clutter, promote deep focus, maintain student confidentiality, and increase confidence for various learning needs.
Students will also benefit from academic honesty with routine use of their privacy shield during assessments to establish a standard testing perimeter. There are many times during the day when students need to share a table space and privacy shields would transform this area into workspace carrels during independent activities. Finally, privacy shields will promote self-regulation by empowering students to proactively retrieve a privacy shield whenever they feel overstimulated and require a quiet space to process information.
I am requesting $69.99 to purchase 30 waterproof privacy shields. This will ensure that each one of my students have the opportunity to have their own privacy shield to utilize in their class or small groups during assessments and independent work activities.
