Business Academy “CERTIFIED” Student Recognition Initiative

The project will recognize students who successfully earn industry certifications while increasing awareness of Career and Technical Education opportunities at Golden Gate High School. The initiative is designed to: *Celebrate students for earning industry-recognized credentials. *Increase student motivation to prepare for and successfully complete certification exams. *Build pride and a stronger sense of identity within the GGHS Business Academy. *Increase visibility of CTE programs and industry certification opportunities across the school. *Reinforce the connection between classroom learning and future college and career opportunities.

The “CERTIFIED” T-shirts will be awarded to GGHS Business Academy students who successfully earn an industry-recognized certification through their Career and Technical Education coursework. The shirts will serve as a visible celebration of student achievement and career readiness. Students will be encouraged to wear their shirts during designated “Certified Days,” CTE events, Business Academy activities, and other school celebrations. Wearing the shirts throughout campus will recognize students who have achieved certification while also promoting awareness of CTE programs and encouraging other students to work toward earning their own industry credentials. Approximately 250 shirts will be purchased and distributed only to students who successfully earn a qualifying certification, making each shirt a symbol of an achievement that was earned rather than simply a promotional item.

The “CERTIFIED” T-shirt program will provide students with visible recognition for earning an industry-recognized credential through a Career and Technical Education course. Receiving a shirt gives students a tangible reward for the time, preparation, and effort required to successfully complete a certification exam. The program will also help build pride and a sense of belonging within the GGHS Business Academy. Students wearing their shirts on campus will showcase career-focused achievement and demonstrate to their peers that industry certification is both attainable and worth pursuing. The shirts will also increase awareness of CTE programs and help create a culture where career readiness is publicly recognized and celebrated. For approximately $7 per student, the program provides lasting recognition while encouraging other students to pursue certifications that can strengthen their resumes, support future employment opportunities, and prepare them for continued education and career pathways.

Grant funding of $1,750 will be used to purchase approximately 250 custom “CERTIFIED” T-shirts at an estimated cost of $7 per shirt. Funds will cover the production and printing of shirts in a range of student sizes for distribution throughout the school year as certifications are earned. This funding allows the GGHS Business Academy to establish a consistent recognition program for the success and achievement of its students. Shirts will be maintained by the Business Academy and awarded upon verification that a student has successfully earned an eligible industry certification. The full grant award will be directed toward the purchase of the shirts, providing a cost-effective way to recognize approximately 250 individual certification achievements during the school year.
