The goal of this project is to eliminate loss of instructional time caused by uncharged student devices by creating an organized, accessible classroom charging station.
Students rely on their school-issued devices throughout the school day to access instructional materials, complete assignments, participate in interactive activities, and demonstrate their learning. When a student arrives without a charged device or charger, something as simple as a low battery can become a barrier to participating in instruction. The storage component is equally important to the sustainability of the project. A designated organization system will allow chargers to be individually stored, easily distributed, accounted for, and returned after use. Together, these resources will create a reliable classroom system that keeps technology accessible and allows students to remain charged, connected, and ready to learn.
Reliable access to technology is essential in a classroom where much of the curriculum, assignments, assessments, and instructional resources are delivered digitally. When a student arrives with an uncharged device or without a working charger, they can quickly lose access to the same learning opportunities as their peers. A classroom set of chargers will allow students to resolve this problem quickly and return their attention to instruction.
This project will particularly benefit students who may not have reliable access to replacement chargers or charging opportunities outside of school, while also supporting any student who simply forgets a charger or experiences an unexpected equipment issue. Rather than allowing a dead battery to become a missed assignment or lost instructional time, students can remain active participants in the classroom.
Grant funding will be used to purchase a classroom set of compatible chargers along with a dedicated storage and organization system. Having chargers readily available will allow students to quickly borrow the equipment they need and return to learning rather than missing instruction, sharing devices, or being unable to complete digital coursework. A student shouldn't lose access to instruction because they forgot a charger, theirs broke, or their family can't immediately replace one.
