Building Social Connections Through Everyday Speech

The goal of this project is to provide evidence based social communication instruction for students with pragmatic language challenges. Funding will support the purchase of the Everyday Speech curriculum and related materials to help students develop conversation skills, perspective-taking, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions. These resources will increase students' ability to participate successfully in classroom activities, build meaningful relationships, and navigate social situations with greater independence.

Many students in our classroom need support with social communication, self-regulation, and peer interactions. This project will provide access to the Everyday Speech curriculum, an evidence-based program that teaches conversation skills, perspective-taking, emotional awareness, problem-solving, and friendship skills through engaging lessons and activities. Students will have opportunities to learn and practice these skills throughout the school day, leading to improved classroom participation, positive peer relationships, and greater independence in social situations. The resources will continue to benefit future students, providing a lasting impact on our classroom community.

This project will provide students with direct instruction in the social communication skills needed to successfully participate in classroom learning, develop positive peer relationships, and navigate everyday social situations. Improved pragmatic language skills will increase student engagement, independence, confidence, and overall educational success.
