The goal of this project is to continue our Crafting for a Cause club by supplying the materials we need to run our club.
Our service-focused arts and crafts club was established last year for students in grades 2-5 with the generous support of a Champions for Learning grant. The club meets monthly, and each meeting is dedicated to creating a meaningful craft project that benefits a local charitable organization. Planned projects include handmade cards for hospitalized children, painted flower pots with flowers for nursing home residents, bracelets for participants at the Dubin Center who are living with Alzheimer's disease, cozy blankets for kittens at SNIP Collier, kindness rocks to spread throughout the community during National Kindness Month, and birthday cake kits for families served by a local food pantry. Through these hands-on activities, students develop creativity and artistic skills while learning the value of compassion, community service, and giving back to others.
This project will benefit our community by providing handmade crafts created by local students while strengthening connections between community members and our schools. It also supports students by nurturing their creativity and appreciation for the arts, while fostering a sense of empathy, service, and civic responsibility. Through this experience, students learn the importance of giving back and making a positive impact on the lives of others. Last year, students learned about various individuals and groups in our community who needed support, and they were excited and proud to contribute in meaningful ways. This project builds on that enthusiasm by providing additional opportunities for students to use their talents to serve others and strengthen our community.
The money will be used to purchase the supplies needed for our monthly crafts.
