The goal of this project is to increase student engagement and foster a love of reading by providing SSYRA Junior books for my second-grade classroom. These high-interest titles will motivate students to read independently, participate in collaborative discussions, and engage in literacy activities that promote comprehension and critical thinking.
Through read-alouds, book clubs, reading challenges, and student voting opportunities, students will actively interact with literature while building essential reading skills. Access to SSYRA Junior books will also ensure that all students have opportunities to explore quality, age-appropriate texts regardless of their access to books at home.
By expanding our classroom library with SSYRA Junior titles, this project will create an engaging reading environment that encourages student choice, increases reading motivation, and supports lifelong literacy habits.
