My goal is to add high quality reading materials to my classroom library. I hope to create an environment that fosters a love for reading and learning. Right now, I don’t have enough books at different levels and interests for all of my students. Adding Sunshine State Readers and other high-quality books will give them more choices and support our second-grade reading goals, especially fluency, comprehension, and daily independent reading.
These books will be available to students during school hours. They will have a variety of genres and levels of Sunshine State Readers and have the freedom to pick the books they are interested in. Students will use them during independent reading, small groups, and when they finish other work. I will help them choose books that are a good fit and check in with them as they read.
These books will give my students more options and encourage independent reading. It will help them stay engaged and spend more time reading. It will also help build their confidence and stamina. I will look at their reading time and the AR quizzes our library uses to encourage and reward kids to see how it’s working.
The funding will be used to purchase high-quality books for our classroom library, including Sunshine State Readers at a variety of levels and genres. These books are not provided through our regular school budget, and I need them so my 15 students have more choices they can actually read and enjoy.
