Additional Details

My goal is to create a comfortable and inviting reading area for my students to relax and enjoy reading books. As an elementary teacher I have noticed a decline in the number of students who voluntarily choose books during independent reading time. Students have become accustomed to fast-paced digital entertainment and they do not always view reading as an enjoyable activity. I want to change that perception by creating a space that feels special to help build their confidence as readers. Providing cozy seating will make reading feel less like an assignment and more like an experience students look forward to.
Second-grade students will use the library during independent reading, partner reading and literacy center time. They will be encouraged to explore a variety of genres, books recommended by their friends or teachers, and reflect on their reading experiences. Students will also be encouraged to participate in book talks, reading challenges, and classroom discussions to build excitement around reading.
The benefits of providing a comfortable seating area will extend beyond simply improving the appearance of our classroom library. A welcoming reading environment can help students build stronger reading habits, increase the amount of time they remain engaged with a book, and develop a positive attitude toward reading.
The project items needed are four Flex-Space Comfy Floor seats at a cost of $79.99 each. The total amount requested for the seating is $319.96. The seats are designed to provide a comfortable, supportive seating within the classroom library.
