I would like a school year subscription to Scholastic Scope Magazine for 30 students. This magazine will be used between 2 teachers for our Intensive Reading students. Not only will this help with reading, it will also supplement our textbook, helping students with comprehension and test taking skills. The beauty of the magazine is the interesting topics it covers which are relatable to my students.
Students will be assigned articles and comprehension/reading assignments with the magazine. this will be done whole class and as small group work. Class discussion will follow.
This magazine would benefit our students by giving them extra skill practice with reading and comprehension. These are intensive students reading at below grade level. Having interesting, relatable topics to read about will help encourage our students to read and learn. This magazine will be shared between two Intensive Reading teachers with three classes each.
This grant would be for a school year subscription for 30 magazines for 6 language arts classes with an average of 26 students per class. Each magazine is 9.99$ paper copy delivered to the school.
