Additional Details

By integrating Generation Genius, BrainPOP Science, and BrainPOP Jr. into our hands-on curriculum, this project seeks to improve science instruction for approximately 120 students in grades 1–5. These dynamic digital tools will boost student engagement, reinforce scientific knowledge and vocabulary, accommodate diverse learning needs through differentiation, and cultivate critical thinking via inquiry-based learning aligned with Florida science standards.
During weekly science sessions throughout the academic year, students will engage with Generation Genius, BrainPOP Science, and BrainPOP Jr. to strengthen their comprehension of grade-level science principles. These digital tools will serve to: -Present new scientific topics using immersive videos and demonstrations. -Support lab-based explorations and STEM activities with dynamic models and interactive lessons. -Expand scientific vocabulary using age-appropriate animations, educational games, and quizzes. -Tailor instruction to provide extra guidance for struggling students while offering extension tasks for advanced learners. -Foster classroom discussion, teamwork, and critical thinking via embedded formative assessments and interactive tasks. -Deliver valuable review and study resources prior to classroom assessments. Rather than substituting the experiential labs and STEM lessons central to our lower school science curriculum, these platforms will enhance them. As the science teacher for all Lower School grade levels, I will integrate these resources across grades 1–5, maximizing the overall benefits of this grant.
By introducing engaging, technology-driven science experiences, this project will directly support roughly 120 students, accommodate diverse learning styles, and boost academic achievement. Students will: -Cultivate a more profound comprehension of grade-level science principles. -Enhance scientific vocabulary and communication capabilities. -Foster greater enthusiasm and active participation during science classes. -Advance critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills through inquiry-based learning. -Build confidence in applying scientific knowledge during collaborative discussions and practical investigations. In addition, educators will benefit from high-quality, standards-aligned instructional assets that offer compelling lessons, integrated formative assessments, and critical data to help customize instruction and track student progress.
Grant funds will be used to purchase annual educator subscriptions to three supplemental digital science programs: Generation Genius ($250), BrainPOP Science ($330), and BrainPOP Jr. ($275). Through these subscriptions, approximately 120 students in grades 1–5 will gain year-long access to standards-aligned videos, interactive lessons, educational games, quizzes, and formative assessments. Securing funds for these resources will complement our current curriculum and hands-on laboratory experiences, expanding opportunities for inquiry-based science instruction. By investing in these digital learning tools, Champions for Learning will help deliver engaging, accessible, and meaningful science experiences to every Lower School student, inspiring curiosity and preparing them for future STEM success.
